Axes, chainsaws, falling bodies… it’s one of the most dangerous occupations on Earth. Now, on roller skates.
Founded by Amanda Harris-Sawatzky alongside the Nelson Killjoys. What started as over 40 ‘fresh meat’ skaters developed into two small teams with big dreams – and a season of blood, sweat, and hip checks has turned the Jackies into a tight-knit group of friends with a common goal of athleticism, competition, sportsmanship, and a determination to play hard and have fun doing it!
Pride in our team and as individual skaters, support, teamwork, goal setting, dedication,
As an overall easygoing group of ladies, it took practice to bring out our competitive
edge. We suffered a brief lack of team unity at one point due to schedule conflicts and
injuries that left us without a consistent roster
How was your 2011 season
In our first season we not only learned to skate, but learned the game – and winning our first bout was a huge confidence and motivation boost. A number of injuries this season left our rosters lacking and each bout was played with guest players – and while this was beneficial in learning a variety of playing styles, it affected our ability to strategize in 2011.
Vision for the future
Continue to push one another to develop our skills and endurance to become a strong,
unified team with a real competitive edge. The Jackies intend to solidify our team identity,
and develop those tricks we’ve already stuffed up our sleeves.
